The 2015 Edition of the Abuja International Model United Nations Conference (AIMUN’15) was the 2nd-ever Model UN Conference to be held in Nigeria.
The conference whose theme was Combating Terrorism within the confine of International Law featured Opening & losing Plenary sessions, General Assembly, and Committees Sessions debate. More than a hundred delegates participated in the conference representing various countries of the world.
Keynote addresses were delivered at the opening plenary session by the Chinese Ambassador, Ghanaian High Commissioner to Nigeria and the Ambassador of Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia,
The Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja – Prof. Michael U. Adikwu, Dean of Faculty of Law – Prof. K.M. Waziri, Head of Public and International Law Dept. – Dr. Lanre Aladeitan, Dr. Sheriff Ghalli Ibrahim and Dr. Nasir Mukhtar were amongst other prominent personalities and distinguished guests at the Conference. The conference was covered by the AIT, NTA and the Radio Nigeria
During the Conference, more than a hundred participants were designated as UN Ambassadors representing various UN member states under various committees that include; Disarmament & International Security Committee, Economic & Financial Committee, Social, Humanitarian & Cultural Committee as well as Legal Committee. The delegates debate, negotiate and lobbying themselves using foreign policy objectives of individual country they represented towards proffering practical solutions to the world most daunting problems such as Climate Change, Discrimination, Terrorism, Cyber Security, Refugee, Economic and Humanitarian Crisis.
